What a challenge the last few months have been. We read more than 1700 micros to come up with our lists–long and short–of amazing, yet tiny narratives. Once again, thank you to everyone who entered, and thank you to the 13 editors from seven countries who judged the competition.
We have finally chosen 12 micros to feature in our June issue coming out on June 21. We had originally decided to publish 10, but that just wasn’t going to happen.
Our 12 finalists are…
Undergrowth by Melissa Bowers
Too Long Under Water by Emily Devane
Juice by Leanne Dunic
Don’t Be Alarmed by Gabriel Houck
Extended Stay by Ra’Niqua Lee
Agnes in the Exam Room by Ruth LeFaive
Finger by Maria Poulatha
Theories About Your Housebound Neighbor by Jasmine Sawers
Unlimited Options by Jason Sprinkle
The Mothers of Brilliant Sons by Jan Stinchcomb
Two Towels Drying by Natalie Warther
Storms and Waves by Jennifer Wortman
We’ll be notifying the winners of the competition very soon, but all of these micros are winners. They will all receive an award of at least $100.
Congratulations from the SmokeLong team!
