Alex Brenner

Alex Brenner has been published in several journals. They were a prize winner in Southeast Review‘s World’s Shortest Story Contest and a Glimmer Train honorable mention. They have a law degree and a master’s in foreign policy, and are (slowly) working on their MFA in Washington DC. Alex has been disabled most of their life and has a number of rare diseases, when they are not writing, they are often educating medical students are researchers about their condition.

We’re doing it again! We’re homing in on the micro: 100-word, 250-word, and 400-word stories. In March 2025 SmokeLong is hosting The March Micro Marathon, a 24-day workshop with a new writing task each day, peer review in small groups, 3 webinars, a reading and interview with Michelle Ross and the editors of 100 Word Story, and 3 competitions with cash prizes.
