In 2018, SmokeLong took the step to start paying writers for their work. We cautiously began with $25. We now pay writers $100 per narrative. In the meantime, we have also begun paying editors. When you purchase senior editor feedback, you’ll pay less than what we pay the editors because we are big fans of win-win situations. We also pay reviewers when they’ll take the money. And we sponsor The SmokeLong Workshop Prize, a free-to-enter competition for previous participants of SmokeLong workshops who’ve published their workshop stories. Despite the rumors, we do not have a yacht.

The core workshop of SmokeLong Fitness is all in writing, so you can take part from anywhere at anytime. We are excited about creating a supportive, consistent and structured environment for flash writers to work on their craft in a community.
