A SmokeLong Summer — 2023

From June 4 to August 27 2023, SmokeLong is hosting the superworkshop, A SmokeLong Summer, for the second year. We want to spend the summer with you, the flash community. Our workshops take place on a devoted website where you can create a profile, interact with the flash community, and take part in group written discussions on craft, but A SmokeLong Summer is much more.

  1. Three writing tasks each week (June 5-Aug 20)
  2. Peer critique in small groups of 10-15 participants (remixed each fortnight)
  3. Regular Flash Parties (Zoom) for various time zones
  4. Author Readings (Zoom) — Denne Michele Norris, Carmen Maria Machado, K-Ming Chang, and Michelle Ross!
  5. Panel Discussions (Zoom)
  6. Competitions with large cash prizes (open only to workshop participants)
  7. Discounts on intensives with star workshop leaders in the fall
  8. On top of all this, we’ll also be publishing a special “A SmokeLong Summer 23” issue of SmokeLong Quarterly with the best stories of the summer!
