Each year, the editors of SmokeLong put their heads together to come up with something good to do for someone in the community during the season of giving. Over the years we’ve given away books, supported other journals, asked our readers to nominate a deserving organization, and more. This year we are giving $200 to a writer, and we’re asking you to nominate the person.
We have already received lots of nominations. The flash community is so full of love. It’s refreshing, especially these days, to wake up every morning to new nominations. People caring about people, wanting to help. We really do need so much more of this, so if you want to copy the idea, have at it!
On Thanksgiving in the US, we’ll choose one writer from the list of nominees and send this person the cash, which they can spend on books or whatever. We won’t ask. And we’ll share information about the nominee and the nominator only if they give permission. Even if your nominee doesn’t get the money, we hope the world feels the good vibes.
